Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert
We will start our trip from your riad / hotel then drive south to Azrou forest through the Middle Atlas Mountains. On the way we will stop in Ifrane city which is known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” and then the cedar forest to see the Barbary Apes. After that we will continue our journey through Zaida and Midelt in a bare plateau heading towards the High Atlas Mountains, after lunch we will enjoy the views of the Tizi n’Talghamt pass (1907m) and the magnificent Ziz Valley adorned with Jurassic rocks.
Read MoreAs we approach the city of Errachidia, you will see the first sights of desert landscapes of the High Atlas plateau. Afterwards we continue through the Ziz valley full of dates palm trees to Erfoud before arriving to Merzouga desert. We shall stay in a hotel, and as always we will be welcomed by a glass of tea with mint and having a local dinner.
Day 2: Merzouga erea – Tradition and Culture
After breakfast in the hotel, we will go to explore this part of the Sahara desert, starting from Khamlia village where we will visit the Gnawa people (Sudanese), originally slaves brought from Sudan; in order to experience their music and dance. Then driving off-road to visit the nomadic Berber families, Begaa oasis, and the grave stones of Taouz village.
Read MoreAfter having a local Berber pizza either in a restaurant or with a Berber family, we will head to ride camels. Our camel guide will lead you through the sand dunes of the Sahara to a Berber camp in the middle of the desert. The camel trek takes about 1 hr to the camp which consists of comfortable Berber tents prepared with mattresses, blankets and cushions in addition to a restaurant, and bathrooms. After dinner we will enjoy the campfire with traditional Berber music under the stars.
Day 3: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
Early in the morning you will be woken up before the sunrise for taking beautiful photos of the desert and enjoying the sun showing up over the sand dunes. After breakfast you will start the journey driving to Rissani town to explore its traditional Souk then towards the High Atlas Mountains to see the magnificent canyon of Todra gorge where the cliffs are as high as 300m, and fresh water comes out of its rocks.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate- Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – High Atlas mountain – Marrakech
After getting prepared, we will head towards Ouarzazte city, driving through the Rose Valley in Kalaat M’gouna and the route of the thousand Kasbahs. Passing through S’koura oasis provides wonderful scenery of green dates palm groves and brown Kasbahs, then we continue to enjoy the beautiful monuments of Ouarzazate or what is known as: “The Hollywood of Africa”, here we will have a chance to see the “Atlas Corporation Studios” where lots of movies were shot.
Read MoreAfter lunch we will visit “Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah”, which recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage site; and used as a film set for many international movies such as: “Gladiator” “Lawrence of Arabia” “Kingdom of Heaven” in addition to parts of the TV show “Game of Thrones”. We will continue our journey towards the High Atlas Mountains, passing through the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260m), where we will pause to enjoy the breathtaking scenaries of the mountains and visit the Argan oil cooperative. Then we will head to Marrakech where our trip ends.
